My baby is my hero.

My "robot" was born with a heart defect. It's a pretty common one... but it's still scary. 18 months ago he had a procedure that improved it by 50%. Now we just have to monitor it.

Pulmonary valve and artery stenosis

So today I took my baby to get a Holter Monitor put on. My mom cried. Chicken and I didn't. Are we getting used to the tests? the wires? the poking and prodding? Don't get me wrong, it's still bothers me, stresses me out, and gives me anxiety.

I spent the entire night writhing in pain from a migraine... that's how I deal. Not what I would have chosen... but it's what I got.

So anyway... he has all these wires attached to him that lead to a little monitor. It records his heart activity over the next 24 hours. So far so good... we're 7 hrs in.

You gotta love the mesh vest they gave him to wear... he looks like an 80's hairband throw back!
The monitor is kept in the little white sack on the left hand side. Just for the record... it's NOT convenient.
He's an amazing boy... brave, sharp as a tack, and makes me laugh.
Anyone capable of getting me to do this, AND catching it on camera... is alright in my books.

  1. What a sweetheart :D
I hope we end up heading in your direction when we head north soon! I can't wait to have a playdate :D

  2. WOOHOO!!! I'd LOVE a playdate... I bet chicken would have some fun too. LOL! Keep me posted!

  3. such a sweet boy! i hope the rest of the day goes smoothly for you. it sounds like little man is a total champ, so i'm guessing it'll go great!

  4. OK, I have 3 comments on this:

    1. Chicken is a total trooper... and so are you.

    2. You should definitely take a pic of him with a guitar wearing that shirt... maybe have hubs flash the Rock hand signal \m/

    2. The last pic is HI-LARIOUS!!!! I can't even begin to explain how much I love it.

  5. 1. he is TOTALLY a trooper... the nurse went on and on about how good and sweet and cute he was. He just sits there and lets them do their thing.

    2. I will definitely have to get that pic!

    3. BAHAHAHA!!! I'm so glad you like it. His photography skills are getting quite advanced.

  6. You are both amazing and yes you must get that picture!!! :)

  7. He's adorable and so tolerant. I guess we all have our crosses to bear in our lives. It sounds like you have a lot of love and support surrounding you both and that is hugely important. He won't ever question that!

the kid in "ernest saves camp" would totally be jealous of his vest!
