The latest...

It's time we all grasped the concept that fall is impending and we should just go for the ride. Along with fall come some of my favorite things:

-Where I live the leaves change into some of the most beautiful colors you've ever seen.
-Pie... oh boy the pie.... Apple, Rhubarb, pumpkin... you name it mama, I'll eat it!
-Comfortable, beautiful sweaters... in all colors of the rainbow.
-Apple picking... pumpkins, gourds!
-Cider and ginger cookies
-Leaf collecting (for future use on fall scrapbook pages)
But the best of all, are the accessories. So of course, Yahee's place has fallen in line and started introducing some fall friendly Yah Bags.

We can all go to BlogHer... Yup, it's true.

Mandy from harper's happenings posted something very poignant today. Due to the fact that I want to reiterate her point (and couldn't think of anything to blog about today) I'm going to comment on it right here for you all to see.

I too was teased relentlessly through the early years of high school about my weight. However, unlike Mandy, I WAS heavy... still am. I could say it scarred me or ruined my self esteem and all that fun stuff that happens to you when your terrorized by your peers. But it eventually made me a force to be reckoned with that can take on anyone or anything.

I caught myself questioning the validity of my blog when everyone was talking about BlogHer. Not to mention that I have many other people in my life that don't get it. They wonder why I would want to spend all that money on something for my blog that not only makes no $$$ but has very few followers. So I've started telling them that it's something I enjoy... and don't I deserve to take a couple of fun filled days for myself? Afterall, I DO spend my days washing everyones clothes, cleaning OUR house, raising OUR child, trying to run a business from home to pay OUR bills. I don't go out, I don't get to party, I don't really have anything I do regularly for myself besides TWITTER, ETSY, AND MY BLOG. I LOVE MY BLOG! However "lame ass" people think it is. So, I'm going to do my best to get to BlogHer next year. Come hell or high water.

Oh ya, and what my peers didn't realize in junior high that is quite obvious now, is that I'm foxy as hell. BAH!!

4 years... seems so long and so short.

August 11th, 2006. It was a Friday. The sun was shining... not a cloud in the bright blue sky. It was 24 beautiful degrees (78F).

I got married that day... to my best friend, confidant, soul mate, partner in life. It seems like a lifetime ago... and just like yesterday all at once.

Happy anniversary Hubbs... I love you like a crazy person.

Us, basking in the glow of freshly wedded bliss.

The wedding was "A sweet occasion"... a vintage tea party if you will. Held from 2pm - 4pm... we served tea and desserts.

Wedding favors
The most delectable cupcakes with flowers and ladybugs.
Perfect cake for a garden wedding.
It was a very small affair... 50 guests. Held in my parent's back yard.

Wordless WEDNESDAY - Fall is upon us.

Yum Yum Yummers...

Everything you could ever want in a cookie... oh yes.
Peanut butter, chocolate, and so very soft and chewy. It doesn't get any better than this people.

This is a Crisco recipe I cut out VERY long ago, and keep in my recipe pile... yes pile. I'm not very organized.

We have a bit of a tradition beginning at our house when it comes to baking. It can't happen without Chicken making a mess and irritating helping me. We pull a chair up to the counter and he stirs and pours all the ingredients in. It usually requires a change of clothes and floor sweep after. You do what you gotta do... and I'm a mom. So, I gotta let him destroy help.

  • 3/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening (or butter/margarine)
  • 1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3 Tbsp milk
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • (I add 1 cup of chocolate chips)

  • Preheat 375F
  • Cream peanut butter, shortening, sugar, egg, milk, vanilla.
  • Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture until well blended.

    • Drop by rounded Tbsp onto ungreased baking sheet and press lightly with fork.
    • Bake at 375F for 7-8 mins. (I really watch them. As soon as the tops look golden I pull them out... but we like them REALLY soft and chewy.)

We're baking cookies and he wants to eat a tomato? Who's kid is this?

I can barely stand to bake them... they already look so good I could eat them RAW!

All I need is vanilla ice cream and I'm good to go... alright FINE I'll bake them!

    VOILA!!! Pour milk and serve!
