We caved... BIG TIME.

Yesterday was our long awaited 19 week ultrasound. Babies look like... well... babies at this point. There was lots of squirming around, dancing, and making things difficult for the tech. LOL! The boy was camera shy at EVERY ultrasound. So it's very different to have a little performing fetus on my hands.

We had decided early on that we weren't going to find out what the sex was. So when the tech asked me if I wanted to know I said NO. I did however ask her to write it on the form, just in case I lost my mind in another month or two and needed to find out. That way I could call the doc's office and ask. The tech said they didn't do that... but that she could write it down and close it up like a vault and we could take it home.

VERY DANGEROUS for the curious mind. Just saying.

Neither of us said a word about it on the way home. However, upon entering the door we immediately started pacing the kitchen floor weighing the pros and cons of finding out. We finally decided... we were too dang curious.

The hubbs tore it open and then freaked, and told our 3 yr old to read it. Ya... ok... like the 3 yr old can read. The boy unfolded it slowly, looked at it for what felt like a lifetime... and said "it says it's happy". There was a happy face drawn under the words. LOL! I grabbed it from him, turned it around and saw this:

We both burst into tears... grabbed the boy and had a big family hug. It was an amazing moment, one that I will treasure always. It was something we all shared together. That means the world to me.

On a side note... the boy has told us it was a girl from the beginning. He was very clear about not specifically wanting a boy or a girl... he just wanted a baby. But he just KNEW it was a girl. Very intuitive little man we have.

So now I know... I'm going to have a daughter. Let the shopping begin.

  12. Oh Melissa, I just started tearing up! When I was pregnant I was 100% positive I was going to have a boy. I wanted a girl. I wanted a little girl so, so bad. But I knew we'd have a boy and that was cool too. So the day of my 2nd ultrasound came and I prepared myself for the news. The doctor is talking away while the baby kicked the crap out of the US wand. Then he says "and there's her leg" Holy crap dude! HOLY crap! I burst into tears on that table. Possibly the first happy cry of my life. It was amazing.

Congratulations on your little girl!! I can't wait to finally see her!
